Rosie
Wow, my little girl is growing up super fast. She is now doing chores (she has 2...tidy up the living room before bed and help unload the dishwasher). As such Meio and I have decided to give her a small allowance every week. I'm going to go go buy her a piggy bank from Ikea next week. Tomorrow Rosie gets to go to her first "theater" movie, Horton Hears a Who. Meio is taking her so it should be a fun daddy/daughter experience. We've been getting her excited for the last week, showing her the trailer over and over on the computer (she keeps asking to watch it). I can't believe Miss Rosie is getting so big.

Valentine's Day.....Bleh!
I hate this stupid "holiday". No apologies to everyone who love doing cutsie whatever on this day. I love Paul, I don't need a special day set out where I feel pressured to do something special for him (and he shouldn't feel pressured to do anything for me, not that he will). This is just another way for men to get spoiled by their significant others while they conveniently forget to return the favour. Well I say screw it, I'm just not gonna bother this year (although once I get in the grocery store today I'll probably feel guilted into buying at least a card).

A Smashing Success
Here are some pics from Ryan's first birthday party, which was awesome despite the fact that his big sister had not only smashed her face 2 days ago but started throwing up and feeling like crap all day today. Thank you Shayne, Denise, Robert, Abbi and Matthew for coming to join in the fun. Ryan loves his new bowl and sippy cup and has carried around his hammer all evening.
As for Rosie I am taking her into urgent care tomorrow just to make sure there is no fractures in her cheeks or anything. When I mentioned that she broke her nose it really is not as bad as it sounds as her bones aren't as solid as an adults. They're still fairly flexible. However the swelling kind of concerns me so I'll take her in tomorrow. Hopefully it's not too bad.

A Successful Vacation
I was not sure how traveling with 2 little munchkins was going to go but they were both super awesome on our vacation to the Okanagan. Rosie even started learning to skate while we were there. Here is a vid of her at the Oliver arena.
Everyone had loads of fun (thanks to all those who put up with us). We all got Canucks gear while in BC (the Flames suck!). I totally miss the Okanagan and hope very much to be able to move back very soon (but am willing to wait til Meio can get a posting at one of the Kal-Tires out there as a manager...big $). I miss everyone and will try to come out with the kids in the summer (this time for a whole week with Barry and Lisa).

Gotta Do Everything Bass Ackwards
So I say screw being normal, I'm in full winter cleaning mode (that way I have more time for better things in the spring). We cleaned out Rosie's room and I am in the process of trying to get rid of a whole whack of toys and clothes. When we get back from vacation I will be diligently looking for inexpensive furniture for every room in the house, organize the laundry room and throw out everything we don't use. I am sick of this clutter. Today is clean the oven day...it's starting to look like we're going to have to get take out for dinner as I have to let the spray sit in the oven for a few hours (I bought the gentler oven cleaner-still has an unpleasant odor but not harsh, it wont hurt the kids).
I have started the "I'm so excited, I can barely sit still" phase of waiting to go on our trip to the okanagan. I REALLY can't stand this city and am looking forward to going back to somewhere with a slower pace (even if it is only for a little while). One more week to go!
On a different note, I cannot believe how fast time has gone since we moved here. Ryan will be a year old next month (what the hell? it's like we're in fast forward or something). And right after we get back from holidays I have to go register Rosie for preschool. Man that just blows my mind, she's grown up so quickly. I need a pause button for my life.
