This is too funny....

One evening last week, my girlfriend and I were getting into bed. Well, the passion starts to heat up, and she eventually says, 'I don't feel like it, I just want you to hold me.'

I said, 'WHAT??!! What was that?!'

So she says the words that every boyfriend on the planet dreads to hear...

'You're just not in touch with my emotional needs as a woman enough for me to satisfy your physical needs as a man.'

She responded to my puzzled look by saying, 'Can't you just love me for who I am and not what I do for you in the bedroom?'

Realizing that nothing was going to happen that night, I went to sleep.

The very next day I opted to take the day off of work to spend time with her. We went out to a nice lunch and then went shopping at a big, big unnamed department store. I walked around with her while she tried on several different very expensive outfits. She couldn't decide which one to take, so I told her we'd just buy them all. She wanted new shoes to compliment her new clothes, so I said, 'Lets get a pair for each outfit.'

We went on to the jewelry department where she picked out a pair of diamond earrings. Let me tell you... she was so excited. She must have thought I was one wave short of a shipwreck. I started to think she was testing me because she asked for a tennis bracelet when she doesn't even know how to play tennis.

I think I threw her for a loop when I said, 'That's fine, honey.' She was almost nearing sexual satisfaction from all of the excitement. Smiling with excited anticipation, she finally said, 'I think this is all
dear, let's go to the cashier.'

I could hardly contain myself when I blurted out, 'No honey, I don't feel like it.'

Her face just went completely blank as her jaw dropped with a baffled, 'WHAT?'

I then said, 'Honey! I just want you to HOLD this stuff for a while. You're just not in touch with my financial needs as a man enough for me to satisfy your shopping needs as a woman.'

And just when she had this look like she was going to kill me, I added, 'Why can't you just love me for who I am and not for the things I buy you?'

Apparently I'm not having sex tonight either....but at least that bitch knows I'm smarter than her.

In Such a Hurry

Ryan has decided to try and skip the whole baby experience. Here he is walking, although not very well in this vid. Keep in mind that he is suffering from a cold and that the ground outside is uneven compared to our floor. He decided to start walking at 8 1/2 months (he's 9 months now). I'm very impressed!

I decided to add another example of little Ryan booting around, just 'cause he amazes me at how quick he's growing.

WOW!!!

This has got to be the coolest hockey fight ever. I wish I had seen this game (better yet, been at the game). Note: doesn't this look a lot like scenes from Slap Shot?

National Grump Day

Appearantly today is national grump day...so um...I guess I hope everyone is grumpy.

I did my civic duty today and actually got out and voted. It was a totally gorgeous day for a walk, like 20 degrees, which is weird for this time of year in Calgary.

So I've decided that people should have to take intelligence and psych tests in order to get their driver's licences (and to become a parent for that matter). What prompted this decision? Yesterday I watched as some moron turned left (on a solid green light, with traffic going straight through the intersection). Ok so he was in the wrong, fine but one guy who was going straight through sped up blaring his horn all the way. Uh, seriously buddy are you in such a hurry that you have to show everyone how much of an idiot you are. Yeah, he had the right of way but is that worth getting into a serious accident? He had just started from a full stop and could of just waited the 2 seconds for the other idiot driver to complete his left turn...but I guess he had to prove how in the right he was and just kept accelerating. People, slow down, it's not worth your life!

Paranoia or Our Real Future

Jeez, if there is any truth to this, I weep for the future. Let me tell you, if it comes down to living in this future I will not be alive to see it. I'll go down fighting.

Very Disturbing

I found this trailer for this documentary about Jesus camp. Ok I'm not against religious camps for the most part. It's normally a good way for parents to allow their kids to experience summer camp (which in my opinion is usually a great experience, religious or not) if they are a religious family. It ceases to be a good idea when things like this video happen. Summer camp is supposed to a fun experience for kids, filled with tons of fun activities with other children their age. Religious camps should be the same thing with maybe a couple of prayer meetings and perhaps one or two sermons thrown in. It should NOT be like this, where kids are brainwashed and turned into "God's army". How is this any different then a cult or other fanatical groups, such as militia men who throw guns and various other weapons into their kids hands as soon as they are able to walk? Frankly this scares the hell out of me...these people have political agendas to turn the U S into a nation of hard core born agains! WTF! Just what the world needs...a government of religious fanatics...doesn't this seem to point to even more religious wars (which is far more savage and brutal than wars over money and power, history proves that). I am sad that children are not allowed to be kids anymore. We as adults tend to saddle them with adult issues at a young age, and although this is sometimes for their safety I think perhaps it's time to slow down and allow them to just worry about the small things and just have fun. We certainly shouldn't be brainwashing our kids. I hate humans...it's only a matter of time before we become extinct due to our own stupidity...and the Earth will be better for it.

Holy Crap!!!!

I've been keeping an eye on our dollar for the last few months, wondering just how close to par we'd get. Never did I imagine we'd get as close as we are today. I just checked the exchange rate and as of a few minutes ago we were at $.9987 american. Do I see our dollar at par after so long? That would be pretty weird. Don't know whether that will be good or bad for our economy.

Oh Yeah!!!

I just read that NBC is introducing a spinoff of Heroes to be played during that annoying hiatus that all the networks have mid season. YAY! Now I'll still get my fix during that time. It will be called Heroes:Origins and will introduce new characters (probably people from the graphic novel, I'm guessing).
As a side note I hate rude old people. I took Miss Rosie to McDonalds for lunch after her haircut yesterday (because she did a pretty good job of not freaking out too much). Anyway I was next in line and this old fart comes up from behind, says he only wants coffee and without waiting for me to tell him to stuff it and wait like everyone else, he shuffled his fat ass up to the till faster than I would have imagined possible. Um...who the hell gave old people these special privilages. Sorry, I know you're elderly but that does not give you the right to just budge in front of everyone else ( I might point out the fact that he would've had to go by about 3 or 4 people behind me to get to the front of the line). With the risk of offending people (it is MY blog goddammit) I say if you're going to be rude like that they should just keep your decrepit old butt locked in an old age home. This isn't the first time this has happened to me either...next time I think I'll just shove the senior out of the way and tell them to f'ing wait their turn. Geez!

Tax Dollars at Work

So I watched in stunned silence today as some (I assume) city workers dropped off two benches at the park by our house. Thats all they did...they carried in the benches and just put them down where they were supposed to go and left. I guess some other group of city workers will come in a few days (or weeks) and install them. A few weeks ago I watched someone driving a city truck to a playground near our house. He was to change all the garbage containers. Rather then, oh say, walk the short distance between garbages he actually drove the truck through the park. I just don't get it.

On another note, my little boy is a bit strange. Ryan has started eating "real" food and for some weird reason he does not like the fruit he's tried. He loves the veggies but I have to mix a veggie into his bananas and peaches so he'll eat them. Usually it's the other way around. Silly kid.

Moody

I've been feeling kinda moody lately. I found this song that I have become obsessed with for some reason. It's called Mad World by Gary Jules. Here are the lyrics.

All around me are familiar faces
Worn out places
Worn out faces
Bright and early for the daily races
Going no where
Going no where
Their tears are filling up their glasses
No expression
No expression
Hide my head I wanna drown my sorrow
No tomorrow
No tomorrow
And I find I kind of funny
I find it kind of sad
The dreams in which I’m dying are the best I’ve ever had
I find it hard to tell you
I find it hard to take
When people run in circles its a very very
Mad world
Mad world
Children waiting for the day they feel good
Happy birthday
Happy birthday
And I feel the way that every child should
Sit and listen
Sit and listen
Went to school and I was very nervous
No one knew me
No one new me
Hello teacher tell me what’s my lesson
Look right through me
Look right through me
And I find I kind of funny
I find it kind of sad
The dreams in which I’m dying are the best I’ve ever had
I find it hard to tell you
I find it hard to take
When people run in circles its a very very
Mad world
Mad world
Enlarging your world
Mad world

This and that

So now Ryan is crawling now...good lord. I guess the "fun" begins.
Yay, I get to go out for a girls night (without kids even!) tomorrow night! Necy and I are going to the Harry Potter movie. It will be a nice breather for me.
Speaking of Harry Potter, after finishing the last book I have to say it was the best of all of them. Unfortunately now the story is over and for some reason the thought of no more HP books kinda makes me sad. At least I get to go through the excitement of watching the munchkins read them in years to come.

Uh Hello...Are You Dumb or What?

So I was watching the news and there was this story about this woman who's baby daughter was injured (fractured skull) when the little girl fell out of one of those Bumbo chairs. They (the newscasters) made the woman out to be some sort of victim and the Bumbo creators to be monsters. As it turns out this dumb woman left her daughter unattended ("Only for a second" she says but nevertheless unattended) in this chair which was on the counter in her kitchen. Well the baby fell out and now the mother is all pissed off saying that it is a dangerous baby item. Uh...hello there are specific instructions on the box, clearly stating that the chair is ONLY to be used on the floor and never leave your child unattended in it. Now this company is on the hot seat because this woman obviously didn't follow the instructions. Seriously, that just burns my butt.
It was hotter than hell today! Unfortunately I had to run a few errands (with the kids) today and by the time we got home we were all overheated. Off came all the kids clothes and a quick cool sponge bath for both and several cups of water for Rosie and I.
Almost halfway done the Harry Potter book...it's awesome!

Vid of the Kids

Haven't blogged much lately...and for that I apologize. I have been pretty busy with the kidlets and spending far too much time on facebook. Anyway here is a vid clip of the kids at dinner. I thought it was quite cute...Ryan HAD to have his spoon and Rosie was sitting there singing while eating.

Sad Waste of Life

So the 13 year old girl that killed her family in Madicine Hat was just found guilty of 3 counts of first degree murder. That just freaks me out...what went so terribly wrong in her life that she would do such a horrible crime at such a young age (she was actually 12 at the time of the murders). What sort of sentence will she receive? Her whole life is essentially over. Geez...I have a niece and nephew that age. I can't imagine them having such issues that would cause them to act out in such a manner. Sad, so sad.

Becoming more social....

It's amazing...I am actually getting out of the house a lot lately. Let's see, the wading pool last Thursday, dinner at Necy's two days ago, birthday party at the neighbors yesterday and we're heading to our friends house tomorrow for their anniversary. Next week Meio has 3 days off in a row. I think we're going to the zoo on Sunday. Then next Friday the kids and I are heading to Necy's for this big bbq and the next morning we are going to the big stampede breakfast at Chinook Centre. Not bad for a normally reclusive chic.
I bought the coolest thing yesterday...the SpongeBob SquarePants monopoly game. I found it at Wal-Mart for only $10. Guess what Meio and I are doing on his days off. Bananahead...I challange you to a game whenever you come visit!
Ooh, I'm looking out the window and it seems we're in for another storm, yipee!

The Facebook Phenomena

OK, so what I'd like to know is why is facebook, myspace, etc so popular? I find myself on there all the time. Is this replacing e-mail? Maybe CSIS and the CIA are using these pages to spy on people. Of course now that I said that, my next blog posting will be from some secret government jail.
Anyhow, I forgot to mention in my last posting that I almost started a fight at the wading pool. This stupid young mom (with 3 little kids, one a baby) lit up a cigarette right there in a park filled with kids. Seeing as how she parked her stupid ass next to us I wanted to get up and punch her dumb head in. But alas I figured that would not set such a great example for all the little kidlets there. If she had dared light up another one I was going to shout at her that my babies did not want lung cancer and to use her f@#*ing head. What a b*tch, I think smoking around your kids should be considered child abuse. Not to mention lighting up in a park full of children (she should be fined heavily for that!).

Fun in the Sun

Took the kids downtown yesterday, to play at the little wading pool by Eau Claire Market. First we met my friend Wanda for lunch (her little girl and Rosie are becoming really good friends, it's totally cute!). Then we all headed to the waterpark. It was quite a long afternoon but we all enjoyed the beautiful weather. Plus I found out (seeing as how we passed right by it) that we have an Old Spaghetti Factory downtown. I've never eaten there but heard it's awesome (I've wanted to go to the one in gastown, Vancouver for a long time). Wanda and I plan to go there next month. Oh and I had the best smoothie ever from Ben and Jerry's. I'm so going there again!

Hanging Out With Dad

Yesterday Meio received some football tickets for the first pre-season game between the Stampeders and Edmonton. Now no one in this house particularly likes or understands football but he thought Rosie might like doing something like that with him. So he got off work early last night, came home to pick up Rosie and off they went to the game. Apparently she enjoyed herself immensely. They got home at about 11:30 and she was so wound up it took a long time to get her to bed. Needless to say she's been sleeping a lot today. I think its super cool that Meio took Rosie out like that, he enjoyed himself and hinted that he would love to do that again sometime.

Quick Ryan Update

I forgot to mention in my last few posts, Ryan is now 15lb 7oz and 26" long (as of last Friday). But seeing as how he's eating rice cereal now his weight will probably skyrocket. Oh and to all my friends and family you'll be getting photos of the kids after June 26 (that's when I have to pick them up).

Not Spoiled...Yeah

So my mom, sis and niece just left this morning after a week long visit. In the last week the kids have gotten an exersaucer and playmat (for Ryan), stuffies, practically a whole new wardrobe, hockey sticks and ball, a hockey jersey (for Rosie), an unbelievable amount of treats for Rosie (who, by Sunday, had had too much junk and puked), a couple of lunches out and a trip to the Telus World of Science/Creative Kids Museum. I probably forgot numerous things in that list. Plus they bought a ton of groceries, changed diapers, did dishes and laundry and babysat so Meio and I could go to Pirates 3 ( a gift from Jody and Wanda...THANX!). It was a FANTASTIC week, I hope they can come visit again so we can spoil them. My niece has turned into the most awesome young lady.

Science Centre

We went to the Telus World of Science/Creative Kids Museum on Saturday. My sis and I got some pretty cool pics. I think these two are among my faves. I now have a facebook page so maybe I'll try to figure out how to create a photo album with that.

Growing, Growing, Growing

So Mr. Ryan has started eating rice cereal. He seemed to like it quite alot. Plus he has just started getting his first tooth, so he was a little cranky this morning. Rosie's vocabulary has gotten quite advanced. Today she picked up her little Elmo purse, looked inside and said, "Oh no, no money!" My mom, sis, niece (who are all visiting) and I laughed for a good ten minutes about that.

On the Move

Ryan rolled over for the first time on Thursday. So it has begun, he's starting to get mobile. Should be interesting once he really gets going, Rosie will probably trip over him a few times.
The weather is finally really nice here. We've been spending alot of time outdoors. Rosie just got a tricycle last night so I'm gonna take her out today to show her how to ride it. I'll take pics and video clips. Oh and I'll try to get a video clip of Ryan rolling. I've been taking lots of pics lately. I'm thinking of creating a sort of online baby book, but don't really know how to go about creating such a thing.

What the hell...

I watched the season finale of House last night. At least I hope was only the season finale. The way it ended almost made me think it was the series finale. PLEASE tell me it ain't so. I mean House lost his entire team last night. Is this the end? I thought House was a popular show, I know I liked it. Can anyone tell me if it will be back on next season?

Children of Men

We watched Children of Men (Clive Owen was awesome) the other night. The synopsis sounded interesting and it was available on video on demand (digital cable feature) so we thought what the heck, let's watch it. It was totally depressing (happy ending, of course) but wow, what a fantastic movie. For all you parents out there, this movie will make you appreciate your children a whole lot more. Basically it takes place in 2027, 18 years after every woman in the world becomes sterile (due to some manmade mega screwups). The world is in total chaos. Clive Owen's character is hired to try and get an illegal immigrant woman, who is miraculously pregnant, out of the country (England), onto a ship, heading to a place working on the Human Project. I could not even imagine not hearing the laughter of children, seeing all those beautiful little faces wherever you go. As Meio said to me after the movie was over, the remaining school buildings would become very sad places, as well as playgrounds/parks. I highly recommend Children of Men. I think I'll read the book.

Amazing

This is the plant I got for mother's day. It's been 2 weeks and not only have I not killed it, it's still green and healthy looking. Meio said he deliberately picked a low maintenance plant.
So we've gone from like 7cm of snow to about 21 degrees in a couple of days. Totally messed up.

Friday, May 25, 2007

Definition of cute....

..Rosie prancing around singing the only two words she knows from her favorite song (Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star). All I hear is her little sing song voice going "Twinkle, star" over and over again. Future Canadian Idol contestant? It's pretty cute, but I have to pretend not to notice 'cause she's shy about singing in front of others.

It Is Almost June....Right?

Ok so I woke up this morning to snow. Not just snowing but it had stuck, snow covering everything. What the hell...we don't live in Antarctica! Seriously when are we gonna get spring, let alone summer?
Now for all you guys out there...why the hell do you think slapping your girlfriend's/wife's ass is a big turn-on for her? I tell you what...it's actually annoying and mostly just pisses us off. I only mention this as I saw a young guy doing this to his gf yesterday. I know that when that happens to me all I want to do is punch Meio in the head (don't get me wrong, I love him but you know that totally irks me). And if it's all about a caveman ownership thing, guys, get over it, it's a new millennium, women are kicking butt. That's my rant for today!

Another Birthday Message

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY BF SHAN. HOPE IT'S A GREAT ONE!

I finally found the cable to connect our camera to the computer. More pics are forthcoming. The kids are growing like weeds.

SO COOL

Watched the season finale of Heroes last night (twice). WOW! That was the coolest episode of any TV show I've ever watched. The ending was totally not expected. Unfortunately now I have to wait til September or October to see the next season. We got a sneak peek at the season premiere for next year...looks interesting.

Happy Mommie's Day

Hope all mommies out there are having a good day. I got this pretty creeping vine plant thingee with candle holders. I'll post pics later. Today Rosie got a new raincoat, hat and rubber boots. This because it got a little rainy today and she loves to play in our yard (not to mention the puddle jumping). Meio and miss Rosie just went to pick up pizza for supper. Tonight we're going to order a movie on pay per view (did I mention that I love my digital cable?). I think we'll watch Stranger Than Fiction, a Will Farrel movie.

Monday, May 7, 2007

Bleh!

So everyone in my house is sick. That made for a fabulous first weekend in our new place. Rosie started power puking on Friday and was up all night. Now everyone has a nasty headcold (including Ryan). We got a notice in the mail on Friday telling us we would have no water tomorrow as they are upgrading the watermain. Hmmm...sick kids, no water, sounds like fun. Vancouver is out of the playoffs. All in all its been a crappy few days.
On the bright side I got to watch the Heroes episode that I missed (too frickin cool) and its on again tonight (YAY). My digital cable totally rocks (you hear that Shayne, it rocks). All the cool shows are on at different times so if for instance 10 pm is too late for you to stay up to watch, say Heroes, you can watch it at 7,8 or 9 o'clock on various other channels.

Wednesday, May 2, 2007

Back Online

So we now have internet, phone and cable (digital) at our new place. Last night we had the best pizza we've had in Calgary so far (probably the 2nd best pizza I've ever had) and it came from this little place less than 5 minutes (walking) away from our house. Today I'm gonna bundle up the kids (its a little chilly) and go to the library (there's one within walking distance, yay!). Thanks to everyone for the birthday wishes. Gotta go unpack some more stuff.

Light at the End of the Tunnel

OH MY GOD I hate the actual moving part of going to a new place. I think we're almost done...PLEASE let us almost be done. I'm pretty sure we can do this with one more truck load plus whatever we can get into our car (did I mention we bought a car...thanks J&S). Of course as of tonight we have no phone, internet or cable until Wednesday but at least we'll be out of this hellhole. Oh yeah I found out yesterday that there are people moving in to various suites here (this after we were all evicted so the new owners could do renos...what's up with that?) On a sad note Vancouver could not pull of a win last night...they better win tomorrow or I'll be super sad. Anyway everyone please keep your fingers crossed that we do not end up having to move again next year on our birthdays (this is the second year in a row, although this time around we'll have extra money to do something nice and buy gifts (thanks mom and Banana --we opened your cards last night, B., seeing as how we'll be pretty busy for the next couple of days -- we totally appreciate the money and gift cards, and yes they will be spent on us, not necessities).

Sunday, April 29, 2007

And So It Begins

We start moving today. I'll post again when we're settled (about a week)! So since we'll be busy, A HUGE HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY LOVE, MEIO (tomorrow) AND MY MOM (next Friday)!

This and That

Kudos to our new premier, who is appearantly quoted as saying he would not follow federal gov't imposed environmental laws if such laws will affect Alberta's economy. My children and any future grandchildren thank you for putting their financial well being first. I mean they're going to need money to buy bottled oxygen and hazmat suits when we completely destroy our earth. What a putz!
What a crappy game last night, I guess Vancouver didn't feel like playing well (I know you guys were tired but suck it up, that's what you're paid the big bucks for). Hopefully they do better tomorrow (I'll be phoning a certain person to gloat everytime they win, ha,ha).
We're down to the last few days at this crappy apartment. Last night the one person we know in this building came to inform us that one of the tenants that moved out last month had her security deposit cheque bounce. Uh, yeah, there's a lawsuit waiting to happen. Anyway I know we won't be accepting a cheque.

Heroes and Hockey

What an AWESOME Monday night last night. First the Canucks played a terrific game (I loved the last 2 minutes). We even had Rosie cheering "Go Vancouver!". Then ten minutes after the game ended Heroes started. Wow these last 5 episodes of the season are going to be spectacular!

Monday, April 23, 2007

Finally!

After over a month of Heroes withdrawl, my absolute favorite show comes back on tonight. Unfortunately that means we're gonna miss the end of the Canucks game tonight but we'll catch the score tomorrow. Speaking of hockey HA HA to all you Flames fans.
Yay! We're going to get a free trial month of digital cable when we move. How cool is that? A week from tomorrow we'll be in our new place, I'm too excited!

Spring...Calgary Style

I just took this picture from my dining room window. Ikes!

Thursday, April 19, 2007

Not Long Now

Yay...12 more days until we move to our new place. No more lugging laundry and groceries up multiple flights of stairs! No more worrying if the stupid laundry room door is going to be locked (although J fixed that while he was here...thank you!). Starting tonight I have to get serious about packing, just as soon as Meio gets home from work. This move shouldn't be so bad seeing as how we got rid of a ton of stuff when we moved here last year. Plus we're not moving the loveseat (you wouldn't believe how easily and cheaply you can get furniture here). The Bargain Finder is a wonderful thing.
Oh, and I have a quick little complaint for Jason...you took our nice weather back to the Okanagan. That was soooo selfish. It started snowing last night, bleh!

Monday, April 16, 2007

Birthday & Anniversary

A big hug goes out to our birthday girl, Brenda. Happy birthday to you!
And congratulations to Paul and Karen. Happy anniversary!
My goodness what a busy day for Spencer, hope everyone has fun.

New Operating System

Meio and I both REALLY want a Mac but can't afford one right now so Meio has figured out a way to put OSX on the laptop (as close to a Mac as we'll get for awhile). I love it, easy to use and it's NOT Microsoft.
18 more days til we move into our new, spacious 3 bedroom basement suite. Yay! Walking distance to shopping and a library plus a washer and dryer in the suite (totally a necessity with 2 little ones). Oh and a backyard for Rosie. And only a short commute to work for Meio.

Thanks to my SIL for this absolutely amazing turkey dinner last night. I ate entirely too much and enjoyed every minute of it. And everyone ran Rosie ragged and she slept til almost 10 this morning.

This is what I made for dessert for Easter dinner. If anyone wants the recipe, let me know.

A Message For a Little Mama

HAPPY, HAPPY, HAPPY BIRTHDAY! May your day be filled with laughter and fun! And may the weather gods smile upon you and turn this crap into warm, sunny skies.

Thursday, April 5, 2007

It's official....

...I f*#@ing hate it here! It's April 5 and it's cold and snowy here (did I mention it's April, supposedly spring). Meio and I are totally depressed. If it's like this by my birthday I'm going to go stark raving mad.
Speaking of going crazy, if I have to watch Happy Feet one more time I might have to stab my eyes out and pierce my eardrums. Rosie friggin loves that movie. Everyday she asks for the "penguin" movie. It was cute the first few times but yeah I can totally recite it now. Oh can you guess what Rosie is watching right now? Why do kids have to watch the same thing like a bizillion times?
The search for a new place is going pretty crappy. Not sure what we're going to do if we can't get a place. We've found a few places but have been rejected for them all (obviously they did not check our references, which are all great). When I'm a trillionaire I'm going to build affordable housing JUST FOR FAMILIES. None of this 3 bedroom rentals for single people, what a load of crap! Calgary is totally anti-children when it comes to rentals. So what I would like to know is where the parents of the 16000+ babies that were born in Calgary last year are living. You can't tell me they all own their own houses. BLAH!!!

Ryan Update

Just got back from the doc's for Ryan's checkup...he is now 11lbs 14.9oz and 23". He's doing great. Now in 2 weeks we have his first vaccinations, then another doc appointment 4 weeks after that. Rosie was awesome at the appointment even though we were there for a long time (we were early and the doc was running late). And to top it off the bus drivers today were polite. All in all it was a good day (except this morning when Rosie fell face first into a wall, bending her glasses, prompting an emergency visit to the optomotrist to fix them. She's ok, just a lump on her head.)

A-hole bus driver

I had to take the bus yesterday, with both kidlets, to Rosie's doctor appointment. In the interest of saving time and not having to battle my independant 2 year old every step of the way, I took the stroller. So here I am with Ryan in the snuggli and Rosie in the stroller. Oh, before I go on I should tell you that the transit employees are on a work to rule thingee. Essentially this means none of them are working any overtime. Because they are so severely understaffed this means less service (not as many buses or trains). So anyway I go to get on the bus and the driver gets right cranky with me c'cause I have a stroller and will take up more room. He says that if the bus gets full I have to fold up the stroller. Uh,yeah, how the hell would I do that with Ryan in the snuggli. I mean would he refuse me access to the bus if I was in a wheelchair. It got worse from there (not for me). He was a total a-hole to all the people getting on, he even totally skipped a stop where someone wanted off. Ok, if you're pissed off with your work conditions:
a)don't take it out on your customers and
b)for christs sake quit if you're that miserable and get another job. It's not like Calgary is lacking in the job department.
I have to take the bus to another appointment tomorrow and if the driver is an a-hole to me or others I'm going to give him a taste of his own medicine. I hate miserable bastards.

Birthdate

Thanks to Bananahead for this strange thing.....

Your Birthdate: May 1

You are a natural born leader, even if those leadership talents haven't been developed yet.
You have the power and self confidence to succeed in life, and your power grows daily.
Besides power, you also have a great deal of creativity that enables you to innovate instead of fail.
You are a visionary, seeing the big picture instead of all of the trivial little details.

Your strength: Your supreme genius

Your weakness: Your inappropriate sensitivity

Your power color: Gold

Your power symbol: Star

Your power month: January

Yay I always knew I was a supreme genius....ha, none of that stuff describes me at all.

Surprise

So I was searching through my cupboard the other day, looking for dinner ideas and SURPRISE! I found a bag with $5 in it. I must have put my change in it while shopping one day and forgot about it.
The search for a new place is not going so well. Appearantly noone here wants kids living in their rental suites. I'm gonna go look at a duplex tomorrow. It's a little more money than Iwanted to pay for rent but I'm kinda getting stressed about finding a place.
Next week is full of doctors appointment. Monday Rosie goes to meet our new doc, Tuesday she goes back for a checkup and Wednesday is a checkup for me and Ryan. Oh, its going to be fun! Especially with the transit workers on the verge of a strike, refusing to work overtime. This means way longer waits for buses and trains.
I have decided to periodically post pics (as of today) of the kids on random posts so everyone can watch them grow.

Welcome to the world

Congratulations to our friends, Jody and Wanda, on the birth of your new little boy. Joaquin Laurden
was born at 8:18 pm on March 16. The big guy weighed in at 11lb 5oz and was 22". WOW! He is as big as Ryan is now (almost).

Borat

So Meio and I watched Borat the other night and I have to say that while I can see why people reacted badly to it (according to the media), Borat was one of the funniest movies I've ever seen. I think anyone who trashed it doesn't have a sense of humor. True, it was racist and totally (how shall I put this) irreverent but the different situations Borat found himself in were hilarious (especially the hotel naked fight scene). I think Meio was right when he said it was a social commentary wrapped up in comedy. I highly recommend this movie to anyone who does not take life too seriously and does not get easily offended.

Kid Pics

Here is an interesting picture of Rosie that she took of herself. Then a pic of our fat little boy. And the 2 of them together.

Five Minutes to Myself

Wow Ryan is almost a month old already! At his checkup last Thursday he weighed in at 10 lbs and was
22 inches. I didn't realize he was getting so big. Appearantly he's gaining like 3 times more weight a day than what the nurses say is average. Yeah he's a solid little guy. I will be posting more pics in the next day or 2.
Rosie is doing quite well, getting smarter everyday. She is always wanting to hold Ryan, in fact (unfortunately) she is constantly in his face.
Well I better go do dishes before Ryan wakes up.

And Now Back To Our Regular Scheduled Program....

Wow it's been awhile since I last made an entry. I'm finally into a semi routine with the kidlets but boy I am starting to think that anyone who has more than 2 kids is either insane or much braver or organized than I am (no offense to anyone). I've finally got Rosie sitting on the potty again a few times a day. As of yet she has done nothing but sit there but it's a start. I'm feeling great, although I still have 3 weeks til I can lift anything heavier than Ryan. Speaking of Ryan, the little man is growing like a weed. He has a double chin and cute little fat cheeks. He's into size 1 diapers now (it took Rosie about 2 months to outgrow the newborn diapers).
I am so far behind in the news right now, so if anyone has any really strange or cool stories to tell please e-mail me or make a comment (and PLEASE I am so sick of hearing about Anna-Nicole Smith). I'd love to have a picture of that sinkhole in Guatamala.
Oh Rosie's awake, gotta go make popcorn.

Rosemary.

With all this excitement, we haven't forgotten about Rosey. It's been a trial for her, but she enjoys time with her brother. Eating and sleep are screwd up, though it's improving. We've lain on the floor with Ryan while he's enjoying his tummy time, and she'll rub his head and back. He got mad tonight when she got up to do something else, calmed down after she came back and he could look at her some more. They're fast becoming friends. All that aside, she relishes times when he's asleep and she can get some solo attention, more than ever. Tonight we took some pictures, or rather she took some pictures, a couple from her point of view and one of Mom. She definately enjoyed herself, and went to bed after a snuggle with Dad and Mom quite happy.

Everyone is home

Well after much ado, they let Mom and little Ryan home yesterday evening. 72 hrs is when jaundice peaks apparently, and he's only got the slightest tinge of yellow. He's still eating well, at the health nurses visit he had gained 3 oz from yesterday. Mom is doing well, although there was mild signs of infection at the giant wound in her belly - which is why they didn't discharge her that morning. All was well in the Health Nurses opinion this morning though. So I guess on those fronts life is good. Rosey is warming up to Ryan now, and has been giving one of her babies a bottle. The bouts of crying over this intrusion in her life has diminished, although her concern for him whenever he makes noise continues. And she stinks right now, so I've got to go...

Edited template

I made the template a little wider, if you have viewing difficulty post your screen resolution and if you are someone we care about I'll fix it for you!
Meio Formiga

Ryan Luis

Well, as the title suggests - we ended up with Ryan Luis as our final choice for a name. Sorry it took so long to get that up here - got busy with with Rosy and then passed out with her on the couch. She's been introduced and didn't much care to meet the new baby, or for that matter even look at him or mom. She warmed up and got quite silly at the hospital, noticed that he had really little hands, feet, etc...
Gave him hugs and kisses, and was quite happy to sit and have a short snuggle with him. I guess we'll see what she thinks, once everyone is home and regular life has resumed! As for status, everyone is quite happy and healthy, Ryan has continued to eat well, has pooped and done every thing that new babies are supposed to do. And mom is recovering quite nicely with no complications whatsoever!

Video of New Baby!

Well as promised here's a short video clip of our little boy! It was easy to do after all, took a couple of minutes while getting some stuff done around the house.

New Baby!

Well at 10:55 this morning a new addition to our family arrived. 7lbs 13oz, 19" long little boy! He's healthy, and was hungry right from the get go. He's eaten quite well, and met his first 24hr quota for feeding within 10 hours! He's very strong, can hold his head up in some positions, and has been quite active. We haven't set in stone a name yet, other than my favourite chocie being out. No "Jesus Huzza" for us. I'll put his name up tommorrow, and as I have a whack of phone calls to make I'll keep this short. Here's some picytures for those of you to far off to come and see him! After I've mad some phone calls, and if I can figure out how - I'll put up a video on youtube so everyone can see him in action!

More Tales From the Slums

So now our building no longer has a dumpster (as of yesterday) to throw our garbage in. Not that all the garbage was making it that far anyway. Ever since the building manager (a nice lady named Sheila, who actually lived in and cleaned the building on a regular basis) got fired by the new owner the stairways have gotten filthy and riddled with litter. Appearantly anything to save a buck (at least for the owner). Oh and each apartment has its own parking stall assigned to it, but I guess now everyone just parks where they want. Meio is going to have anyone who parks in our spot towed (except friends and family of course).
I watched Heroes last night (of course) and am looking forward to a brand new House tonight. It will be so nice when Jericho comes back on, not that I'll have time to watch it by then.

9 more days and counting (and believe me, I am).

Long Week

So it's been a long and strange (not to mention frustrating) week. On Monday morning I woke to discover we had no hot water or heat (which runs on hot water). OK I do the obvious and phone the tnew landlord (quick note...our building just sold again for the second time in less than 6 months....we got a notice as to who to make rent cheques out to....that part of the story coming up). The new landlord (known only as Shawn) says he'll have it fixed that day. Ok, fast forward to Wednesday night. By this time we've had no heat or hot water since Monday (well, alright we did have like an hour each day of each). Meio and I have had to sort of wing it and have like sponge baths (we never knew when the hot water was on, so we kept missing opportunities to shower (I did however go to my awesome SIL's to shower and bathe Rosie that day). By now we've called Shawn like 8 times so Meio calls the Calgary health region, Alberta tenancy board and Global news. Then he decides to go to the address of the new company that owns the building (Champion homes) to see if he can find another phone number to call as we only had this Shawn's cell number and by now he's turned his cell off. Turns out the address is a PO Box at a UPS store. What the hell? This gets better. Meio is doing our laundry that night and he's down stairs in the laundry room at 11:00 pm when he smells gas. He goes to the utility room and finds someone fiddling with the boilers. Seems Shawn has shown one of the tenants (who is not trained to do such stuff) to take apart the faulty gas regulators on the boilers and get the gas going again. Uh...does this not seem like a VERY bad idea. The guy coulda burned the damn building down. Meio rushes upstairs and calls the gas company's emergency line. Next morning...still no heat or hot water. Meio stays home from work, phones the Calgary health board again and about an hour later Atco (the gas company) is here to replace the faulty regulators. So that's my weird story. I think we're going to move.

Heroes

So after a LONG wait my absolute favorite show (Heroes) finally started up again. And what an episode it was. The writers certainly know how to suck you in. And for people like Jason, who had never watched it before, if you go to the Heroes website you can catch up on the storyline by reading the graphic novel. Unfortunately now I have to wait til next week for a new episode of Heroes and House (another damn repeat tonight).

Gonna be a long day today, seeing as we have no hot water again this morning. It was fixed last night but gone again. I didn't get a shower yesterday so I'll have to head over to my SIL's to catch a nice hot shower.

Disappointment

So last night I eagerly awaited for 10:00 to watch a new House and hmm...appearantly Global played a repeat, yes a FREAKIN' REPEAT. AAARRRGH...why do they do that, play a brand new episode last week and then not continue the season the next week. And why the hell not start all the shows at the same time? I have to wait til Feb 21 for Jericho to start again! Ok you think, maybe I shouldn't be so obsessed with TV. Well you know what, I need that hour or two after Rosie goes to bed to unwind. There's my rant for the day.

On another topic entirely, I think my imagination has kicked into overtime lately. I'll see an ordinary person at the mall or on the street and in a matter of minutes have an entire hollywood movie storyline created about them.

OH MY GOD, I'm typing this while watching the news and they just showed a preview for a new Will Ferral/Jon
Heder movie called Blades of Glory. I so have to go see it, the trailer itself had me on the floor laughing.

I have my week 36 checkup today. Yay, a 2 minute appointment that takes an hour of my time, Bleh!

Brrrr....I Hate This Cold

Oh man, this cold weather really sucks. It wouldn't be so bad if I didn't feel so trapped in my small apartment. What makes it worse is not being able to take Rosie out to run around. Holy crap she is like a tiny speed addict. From the time she gets up in the morning she just goes and goes, like the tasmanian devil. I was thinking that I'd love to bottle that craziness and turn it into medication of sorts for those trying to detox from speed/cocaine. I'd make millions!

So 35 weeks and counting (in my pregnancy). Oh lord it will be nice to be able to sleep in more comfort (when I'm allowed to sleep that is). I'm glad Meio is getting 2 weeks off, I'm going to try to sneak in an actual 8 hours of sleep one of those nights.

Flips and Giggles

So last night we were sitting around trying to get Rosie to slow down for bed when she discovered a new trick. She did her first somersault. Then she wanted to do them over and over. It was the funniest thing to watch. Do we have a future gymnast on our hands?
My goodness, as I type this I have Rosie sitting beside me eating breakfast. And eating she is, in fact since yesterday morning she has been eating almost non-stop, between meals and snacks. Geez she just went through a huge growth spurt, I hope she isn't going through another one!

Has anyone out there seen that commercial for Nicoderm where there's a flight attendant who is trying to quit smoking cold turkey? She keeps flipping out on customers. I think its the funniest commercial, I'd love to see that on a WestJet flight.
Speaking of TV, I'm getting really excited! Tomorrow night there is finally a new episode of House. You can be sure what I'll be doing at 10:00 tomorrow night! And in exactly 2 weeks Heroes starts up again (my new favorite show). I haven't heard anything about Jericho but it should be coming back on soon (hopefully).

A Very Important Message

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BANANAHEAD!

Special Package

Here is a pic of a Rosie-in-the box (notice the cute glasses).

Doctors

After going to yet another doctor's appointment yesterday, I have to say that I dearly miss my doctor in Kelowna. He always made conversation, and I guess in general we had a great doc/patient relationship.
On a completely different note here is a story that will make you lose a little more faith in humanity....http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,241279,00.html. Ok, putting aside the fact that the parents are super psycho, what kind of doctor/surgeon would actually perform procedures like these on a child. Um, yeah, I really don't know what else to say about this.

Now I have to bitch about the owners and patrons of Calgary bars/pubs. So as of Jan 1 a new by-law came into effect banning smoking in public places. I was totally excited as a non-smoker cause I love pub food, but not smelling like an ashtray afterward. Well I guess none of the bars/pubs are going to follow this by-law. Well fine I hope you all get lung cancer! If I was super rich I'd open my own pub where if you lit up a cigarette you get a 10000 volt shock.

Life Lessons

So I've discovered that one can learn little lessons just about anywhere. For instance just the other day I learned that one should never try to stand on one foot in the shower to try and shave the opposite leg if one is 7.5 months pregnant. It could (and almost did) end in disaster. Appearantly my center of gravity is way more out of whack than I thought.
So every time I watch the news I see stupidity at work. They just did a story on idiot drivers (and there are alot of them) that actually text message while driving. Ok, what next, driving with a blindfold and earplugs. Seriously people, technology is NOT at the point where your car does all the driving, you HAVE to pay attention to what you're doing.

Seven Years......

Well, here it is, a brand new year and with it brings yet another anniversary for Meio and I. Ahhh...seven years, who knew that a stellar New Years Eve party and plenty of rum and coke would turn into a couple of kids (as well as a most unique relationship)? We brought in the new year by watching Jackass 2. Wow, those guys are f#@*ed. The "bad grandpa" stunt had me in doubled over laughing...actually the whole thing was really funny. I was quite surprised at how quiet it was around here last night, I guess everyone actually goes to bars or big parties to celebrate New Year's (we live in an area of lots of apartments and condos). I hope everyone had a good time doing whatever it is you do for the holidays.
